Special Exhibition ‘Seoul Where I Grew up’ with Photographs Taken and Donated by Han Young-soo
Han Young-soo was born in Gaesong with a silver spoon. He had a talent for painting and became interested in photography.
He began to devote himself to photography by joining Shinsunwhue (New Line Group) in 1958. Later, he achieved prominence as a photographer by joining the Photo Artist Society of Korea, the Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organization of Korea, and the Korea Professional Artists Association and established the ‘Han Youngsoo Photo Forum.’
Known as a commercial photographer and a talented painter at his young age, he took landscape photographs that captured the recovery of Seoul from the ruins after the end of the Korean War in the 1950s and 1960s.
In this exhibition, the works of photographer Han Young-soo that mainly represents the appearance of Seoul from various angles between 1956 and 1963 is classified by themes such as children, winter, and market and by places.
