Hanyangdoseong from the Records ll, The People who Rebuilt the City Wall
Significant parts of Hanyangdoseong, the Seoul City Wall, were lost during the modernization process in the 20th century. However, beginning with the ‘Seoul City Wall Cleanup Project’ in the 1970s, the city wall has undergone various repair and restoration projects. Today, more than two-thirds of the entire length has been restored to its former state. It is not often that such large-scale city wall heritage remains in a metropolis with ten million residents.
The second exhibition of the Hanyangdoseong from the Records presents the stories of various people who rebuilt the city wall which was in a state of disrepair after the liberation in 1945. We hope you can experience how the Hanyangdoseong was repaired and restored from the stories of many experts who have directly and indirectly participated in city wall repair and restoration projects.
