Frontier of Korean Youth Culture, Sinchon
The Seoul Museum of History will hold the Frontier of Korean Youth Culture, Sinchon exhibition at its Special Exhibition Hall until October 21, Sunday, to illuminate Sinchon, one of the significant, newly-emerging cities of Seoul and the heart of Korean youth culture. This exhibit, which is to include both present and past images of Sinchon, going all the way back to the Joseon Dynasty up to the present day, will explore the advent or introduction of cultures in Sinchon, together with the overall transformation of its spatial layout. Focusing on the era between the 1970s and 1990s, the golden age of youth culture, the exhibition will display characteristics of Sinchon when it was a haven for the literary youth community, the heart of alternative music, and the Mecca of fashion.
The Frontier of Korean Youth Culture, Sinchon will prove a noteworthy opportunity to rediscover the value of Sinchon through the anecdotes of those who remember the close-knit backstreets of the area within this cultural refuge that was built upon their lives, ideals, and passion.
