City Museum & Placeness: Future Directions for City Museums

The Seoul Museum of History is hosting an academic conference with the theme, “City Museum & Placeness.”
This conference will provide an opportunity to discuss the future directions and other relevant issues for city museums. Researchers from diverse fields - including geography, cultural anthropology, and popular culture, - as well as staff members from city museums have been invited to participate.

This conference, “City Museum & Placeness,” includes presentations from experts across diverse fields. The keynote speech is titled “Capturing Place in a Museum,” and will be presented by Chairman Kang Hong-bin of Seoul Institute. Another study, “Place and City History Museum in the Perspective of Geography” will be presented by Professor Shim Seung hee of the Cheongju National University of Education. We hope that this event will generate meaningful impact for staff members from city history museums, by providing an opportunity to learn about diverse ideas from the experts with focus on the future directions for city history museums.
