‘Neighborhood Orchestra Concerts’ in collaboration with Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra
Cooling Down with Classical Music
Date : August 5 (Sat.), 2017, 2:00–3:00 p.m.
Venue : Lobby, 1st fl., Seoul Museum of History
On Saturday of the first week of August, the Seoul Museum of History will host a “Neighborhood Orchestra Concert” in collaboration with Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in the first floor lobby of the Seoul Museum of History.
The concert is one of the major public performances planned by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in their mission to provide the public with opportunities to enjoy culture and popularize cultural performances. “Neighborhood Orchestra Concerts” feature famous pieces of classical music that have been used in movies or commercials, with detailed commentaries to deepen the audience’s understanding of classical music. This iteration’s program includes “Eine kleine Nachtmusik,” the Mozart serenade much loved for its cheerful and elegant melodies; “Pizzicato Polka,” a jaunty tune for dance composed by Johann Strauss II, the king of waltz; and “Gabriel’s Oboe,” by Ennio Morricone, the great composer of film music. The orchestra will perform with a string quintet, clarinet, bassoon, oboe, and cello.
The concert, which will be held in the middle of the hot summer season, will offer an opportunity for visitors to escape from their busy lives, relax, and enjoy beautiful classical music.
